Epilepsy is common in adults with intellectual disabilities, with an average estimated point prevalence of 25%, compared with <1% in the general population who do not have intellectual disabilities.The relationship between epilepsy and challenging behaviour in adults with intellectual disabilities is complex.
With this in mind, we review the current evidence on the use of psychotropic medication and behavioral techniques in the management of behavioral disorder in people with intellectual disability.
